Wrentham Fire responded to 1143 South Street Armitage Auto Parts for a reported fire on February 4th. Arriving companies reported a fire in a junk yard involving several vehicles and a large pile of tires. The chief ordered a working fire and multiple mutual aid companies were special called for foam. A large column of black smoke could be seen from over 15 miles away. Companies were heavily engaged using several lines to knock down the heavy fire before the piles could be pulled apart. The Massachusetts Department of Fire Services District 1 Hazardous Materials Team responded alond with the EPA and Massachusetts DEP to check for environmental impacts. The cause is under investigation and one firefighter suffered minor injuries.
