Bolton MA Working Fire+ 2/11/2010 : Bolton Fire was dispatched to 55 Powder Hill Road shortly after 4pm on February 11th for reported alarms sounding and smoke in the building. Engine 1 arrived on scene and reported a smoke condition on the second floor. The crew stretched in with an attack line and command reported smoke starting to push from the roof. Command requested Hudson Ladder 1 to the fire and Lancaster to cover. A Short time later, command requested a Boxborough Tanker, Havard Tanker and Havard Hose Wagon to the fire. A crew stretched a second attack line to the second floor and companies began to make good progress on the fire. Companies made a good stop and were able to keep the fire contained to the second. There was no injuries reported and the cause is under investigation.

Northbridge MA 2nd Alarm 2/9/2010 : Northbridge Fire dispatched companies to a reported chimney fire at 1405 Quaker Road on February 9th. The first arriving company reported smoke showing from the eaves of a 2 1/2 story wood frame. Companies made an aggressive interior attack and knocked down fire on the second floor and in the attic. Upton Tanker 1 and Grafton Engine 3 responded to the scene while Upton Engine 2 covered Northbridge Station 2.

Wrentham MA Working Fire+ 2/4/2010 : Wrentham Fire responded to 1143 South Street Armitage Auto Parts for a reported fire on February 4th. Arriving companies reported a fire in a junk yard involving several vehicles and a large pile of tires. The chief ordered a working fire and multiple mutual aid companies were special called for foam. A large column of black smoke could be seen from over 15 miles away. Companies were heavily engaged using several lines to knock down the heavy fire before the piles could be pulled apart. The Massachusetts Department of Fire Services District 1 Hazardous Materials Team responded alond with the EPA and Massachusetts DEP to check for environmental impacts. The cause is under investigation and one firefighter suffered minor injuries.

Northbridge MA 2nd Alarm 1/31/2010 : Northbridge Fire Alarm struck Box 1182 for 276 Lincoln Circle shortly after 7pm on a frigid January 31st. The initial report was an auto fire inside the garage. First arriving companies reported heavy fire showing from an attached garage. A 2nd alarm was quickly transmitted bringing mutual aid to the fire and to cover the town. Several lines were run and the Northbridge jakes were able to make a good stop. There was a few minor injuries on scene and the cause is under investigation.

Hopkinton MA District Dive Team Drill 1/30/2010 : The Massachusetts Southern District 14 Dive Team held an ice dive drill on a extremely cold January 30th. The drill was held at the Hopkinton Reservoir at Hopkinton State Park. Members from Ashland, Hopkinton, Holliston, Sherborn and Northborough participated.

Framingham MA 2nd Alarm 1/21/2010 : Framingham Fire received a call for alarms sounding at 9 Weld Street shortly after noon on January 21. First arriving companies reported heavy smoke showing from a window on the second floor of a large 3 story brick OMD and reported a working fire. Car 4 assumed command and Engine 3 stretched in with a 2" attack line. Command had the other arriving companies stretch in a second attack line and bring extra hose due to the size of the building and the long lay in. There was several reports of occupants who could not escape the building due to a heavy smoke condition on the second and third floors. Command ordered a second alarm transmitted for manpower and to assist with evacuation. Companies were able to knock down the heavy fire and were tied up on scene overhauling for a considerable amount of time. Also the third floor still had a heavy smoke condition on the third floor which took some time to clear. Ashland Engine 2 responded as the RIT company, while Southborough, Natick and two remaining Framingham Engine companies covered the city.

Worcester MA 3rd Alarm 1/16/2010 : Worcester Fire responded to a call for a structure fire at 7 Mount Vernon Street during the mid morning hours of January 16. First arriving companies reported heavy fire showing from the top floor of a 3 story wood frame dwelling and requested a 2nd alarm to be transmitted. Companies were quickly pulled from the building and operations went defensive due to risk of a roof collapse. Companies went to work with several lines from the outside and Ladder 6 with their ladder pipe. A 3rd alarm was transmitted bring more help to the scene. The roof did cave in quickly and the heavy fire was darkened down after 20-25 minutes. Companies were engaged for almost an hour and a half overhauling the top floor for pockets of fire and hot spots.

Hudson MA 2nd Alarm+ 1/11/2010 : Hudson Fire fought this two alarm blaze at 47 Bennett Street on January 11. First due companies reported heavy fire showing from the porch on Side 2 or B Side of a irregular shaped split ranch. Companies pushed in with two 1 3/4" attack lines and encountered a heavy fire condition. A 2nd alarm was quickly transmitted and another 1 3/4" line was put into operation. Interior requested the roof to be opened as soon as possible and requested a 2 1/2" line inside. The heavy fire was knocked down after about an hour with severe damage to the B side of the residence. 

Mutual Aid from Marlborough, Stow and Sudbury worked at the scene. The Department of Fire Services Rehab Unit was special called while Bolton and Berlin covered the city.

Covering our station and near rush hour traffic made what would be an easy trip more difficult. The fire was obviously knocked down and companies were making up upon my arrival.

Malden MA 6th Alarm 1/9/2010 : Malden Fire responded to Box 292 for an alarm of fire at 503-509 Pleasant Street just after 6am on January 9th. First arriving companies reported heavy fire showing from the 4th floor of a 5 story brick OMD. Three alarms were transmitted fairly quickly and companies were heavily engaged. The fire on the 4th floor had been knocked down but extended to the 5th floor and vented out the roof. Also the building was attached to an identical building on the Side 2 or B Side. Command transmitted the 4th and 5th alarms bring more help to the scene. All companies were ordered from the building and three ladder pipes went into operation along with several portable monitors on the C side. 5th alarm companies were ordered to find hydrants and lay into the fire. As the fire spread to the rear of the fire building it began to crawl across the connector or throat, threatening to spread to the adjacent building. A Medford Ladder and two Boston Engine companies began making a trench cut and stretched a big line to hold the fire. With the fire stopped, companies began to darken down the heavy fire and make entry again to start the long process of overhauling the upper floors. The scene was extremely treacherous with ice and temperatures in the low to mid 20's.

Mutual Aid responded to the scene from 16 communities. They were as follows:
Arlington, Belmont, Boston, Burlington, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Medford, Melrose, Reading, Revere, Saugus, Somerville, Stoneham, Wakefield and Winthrop.

Special Units included: Malden Emergency Center Rescue 2, Boston Sparks Association A-10, MetroFire Air Supply (Weston Fire) and MetroFire Field Comm 20 (Waltham Fire)
